How You Can Create a Powerful Worship Set with Easy Songs!

Hey there, lovely souls! Today, I want to share with you the story behind a song that’s very special to me. I wrote "When You Say Jesus" over five years ago, and it's a testament to the power of just one word…..JESUS! As a songwriter, I’ve often found myself hesitant to embark on the recording process, but I was at a time in my life when it was now or never. I hope this is the first of many!

My hope with "When You Say Jesus" is that it’s simple chords and lyrics would allow anyone to easily step into worship. In an era where many new songs have multiple verses, choruses, and bridges, I intentionally crafted this song to be accessible and easily singable by any church congregation. The chorus consists of just four lines, creating a beautiful declaration of the Name of Jesus that can be easily sung by people of all ages and backgrounds.

Here’s why I’m so passionate about writing simple songs! Picture this: you're leading worship, and you want to create an atmosphere where everyone can wholeheartedly sing without looking at the words or you need a song to sing off the cuff that your band can play easily.

This is a line that comes to me often and reminds me that the Name of Jesus is a full prayer. It’s saved many people from wrecks or disasters. There is tremendous power that resides in the name of Jesus. By just saying Jesus, we call on His divine authority and open ourselves up to His great power. It's a powerful reminder that God's power is readily available to us when we simply call His Name.

I wanted to write a song that would effortlessly fit in any spot during a worship set. Often, we find ourselves wanting to add a simple song to our set list, or perhaps we desire to learn a new song for the church that isn't too challenging. A song with just a verse or chorus fills that void perfectly. It’s also important to have songs in your Master Song List that can quickly be added into a medley at the end of another song or used to seamlessly merge into a spontaneous moment of worship.
